Video can explain a program, the people behind it and how to take part. We plan the message, suitable ad layouts and the next step, then distinguish views from gifts, registrations or inquiries.
Dedicated YouTube advertising is planned with a separate paid budget. Restricted grant Performance Max access is not a promise that grant credit will buy YouTube placements.
The campaign, made visible
See what this option needs to do.
One illustrative nonprofit campaign. The example is not a promise of placement, eligibility or results.
01
Show the work
02
Explain the need
03
Invite the next step
A short, captioned film shows the work, explains the need and invites viewers to learn how to help.
The goal
Help potential supporters understand a local river restoration project.
The destination
A project page with the work planned and clear giving or volunteer choices.
The action to verify
Review views separately from completed gifts and submitted volunteer applications.
Where and why
Choose the format for a defined job.
Where ads may appear
Eligible YouTube video, feed and Shorts placements, depending on the campaign and ad format.
Some campaign settings can include other video inventory; placements must be reviewed rather than assumed.
When it can fit
A program or cause that benefits from seeing an activity or hearing an explanation.
Approved footage or a realistic production plan, including permission to use the people and materials shown.
A useful program, giving or volunteer page that continues the video’s explanation.
What needs to be ready
One message and invitation, with approved script and footage.
Readable horizontal or vertical versions and captions suited to selected placements.
A paid campaign goal: reach, views, engagement or a useful website action.
A working destination and measurement that distinguishes video exposure from completed actions.
What we evaluate
Reach, views and viewing behavior using the definitions of the selected ad format.
Clicks and completed actions, with video-attributed responses identified separately where reported.
Confirmed gifts, registrations or useful inquiries from the nonprofit’s records.
Plan with these limits in view.
A view or video-attributed action does not prove the video caused a donation.
Sensitive subjects affect targeting and creative approval; do not imply private knowledge about the viewer.
Action-focused video campaigns now use Demand Gen; the account’s available setup and channels need review.
We need clear, approved material that explains the work and invitation. Production needs depend on the message and placements; filming and editing scope is agreed before work starts.
Can we advertise in YouTube Shorts?
Eligible campaigns can use Shorts. A vertical version needs readable text and captions; simply shrinking a landscape film may obscure the explanation.
Which campaign should drive a registration or gift?
We assess Demand Gen for action-focused video. Google has upgraded Video Action Campaigns to Demand Gen, so an older video-conversion setup should not be copied unchanged.
Demand Gen uses images and video across eligible Google channels where people browse. A useful campaign connects that introduction to a program, giving or participation page with a clear next step.
Display ads combine images and text while people browse. We start with a program people can recognize, a readable invitation and the page they will reach, then review where the ads appear and what follows.
Performance Max combines approved text, images and video and automates delivery toward a selected action. We check what that action means, which pages can receive visitors and whether the reported results match your team’s records.
Someone searching for a local cause may be ready to help. A relevant Google ad can bring them to a donation page that explains your work, how gifts support it and how to give. The useful result is a completed gift, followed by the care your nonprofit gives each donor.
Your event needs people who understand what it is, when it happens and why they should take part. Google advertising can connect a relevant search with a page that answers those questions and leads to a completed registration or ticket purchase.
A family looking for a class needs answers before it can register: who the program is for, where it runs, what it costs and whether places are available. Google advertising can connect that search with a specific program page and a clear next step.
People who want to help need to know what the work involves and whether they can do it. A relevant Google ad can lead to a volunteer page with real roles, schedules and requirements, then an application your team is prepared to review.
Your next step
Bring one goal. Choose the support that fits.
Tell us the program or cause, the people you want to reach, your grant status and what your team can follow through on. We’ll discuss the campaign fit, the work required and the right support.
